I am digitizing the canvases for an engineered escape suit print to bring this character to life. This descendant of The Old Manse of somewhat fuzzy lineage will travel in search of another life. Maybe he is sensing the Gilded Age is on its way, taking an interest in all things decorative and embracing the approaching onslaught of capitalism—I am not sure yet. Still, his imagination and maximalist quest are too much for the small town of Concord, MA.

I will present this character and his journey along with the entire collection during my talk with Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer Megan Marshall (The Peabody Sisters,Margaret Fuller) at the deCordova Museum on June 17th.
